Fragile Dreams Project Glass Cage

Glass Cage explained.

The Glass Cage Project was a mysterious project made by scientists that led to humanity's near-extinction. It occurred at least 15 years before the start of Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon.

Origins[]

A group of scientists were studying telepathy and human empathy and trying to evoke the empathy in peoples' minds using a catalyst, hoping that humanity would usher in an era of world peace. In Minato, Japan, very close to Twilight Tower (Tokyo Tower), they constructed a machine called Glass Cage. They intended to use its specialized radio frequencies throughout the planet to try to trigger the empathy in humanity.

Shin was known to be part of the group.

Sai is known to be the catalyst for the project. The catalyst is a human being whose body would act as a medium to link people's minds.

Seto's grandfather was apparently deeply tied to the project, as well as man Crow is searching for.

Judging by the child's room in the Laboratory, as well as Ren being described as "planned child" for the project, it would appear Glass Cage involved research into children and their empathy.

Aftermath[]

When the scientists used Glass Cage, everybody was happy throughout the planet. However, the project had a disastrous side effect on peoples' brains, making it so that anyone who fell asleep would not be able to wake up again. Billions of humans died as they slept and starved to death, almost wiping out the entire species except for a select few. News that people who slept were not waking up spread around on Earth, and humanity was forced to engage in trying to stay awake as long as possible in order to survive. The news brought about mass panic and confusion. Many people said their final goodbyes in notes and tape recordings, and decided to sleep beside their loved ones.

Eventually, at some point, Glass Cage was shut off for unclear reasons. Humanity was left with some survivors, however. It is unclear how people survived Glass Cage, such as if some personalities were immune, or if some people survived by staying awake as long as possible. Still, the project created "ghosts" known as Thought Entities which are the lingering thoughts of human beings.

During Fragile Dreams, the Glass Cage project is about to happen again under the actions of Shin. If it succeeds, it will likely wipe out humanity for good. Ren, the silver-haired girl is the catalyst.
